Reviews security, law and order at high-level meeting following Shopian shootout

Two days after the killing of six persons, including two militants and four civilians, in the Army firing in the Pahnoo area of Shopian district, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has advised the heads of all security agencies to ensure that no collateral damage occurs during security operations.
The Chief Minister also impressed upon the security officers to take care that the people were not put to inconvenience during the operations.
Mehbooba was reviewing the security and law and order situation at a high-level meeting of officers here today.
She impressed upon all security agencies to work in synergy to ensure adherence to the standard operating procedures.
She said these should in no way be violated or overlooked by them.
“Every aberration in this regard, she reminded the officers, amounts to furthering the evil designs of the elements inimical to peace in the state,” an official spokesman of the government said after the meeting this evening.
The Chief Minister asked the heads of the civil administration, police, Army and other security agencies to maximise their public outreach to ensure that the grievances of people were heard and redressed promptly.
Earlier, on her arrival from Poonch, the Chief Minister was briefed by General Officer Commanding, 15 Corps, Lt Gen AK Bhatt about the overall security situation in the Kashmir valley, particularly in the backdrop of the Shopian incident.
The Chief Minister was briefed by heads of various security and intelligence agencies about the prevailing security situation in the state, particularly the Valley.
